Job summary

Weis Markets is seeking an experienced Bakery Assistant Department Manager for our Lexington Park, MD location. The role centers on delivering outstanding customer service, decorating cakes and bakery items, and assisting the Bakery Manager with daily operations and merchandising.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of retail/restaurant management, and decorating experience. Full-time benefits and competitive pay are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business-related or food service-related field desirable.
• Minimum (2) years’ experience in management in retail/restaurant/supermarket environment.
• Previous decorating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes customer relations by providing polite, professional service and resolving issues promptly.
• Takes orders by phone or in person and completes decorated products on time.
• Decorates cakes and bakery items following recipes and fills with appropriate fillings.
• Assists Bakery Manager with merchandising, scheduling, training and daily operations.
• Oversees inventories and weekly sales to support period-end counts.
• Plans merchandising to meet financial goals and ensures correct pricing.
• Ensures proper receiving, dating, restocking, and product rotation.
• Maintains fresh, well-stocked bakery area and meets customer demand.
• Monitors PPE usage and safety procedures; supports cross-department cooperation.
• May assist other departments as needed.
