Job summary

The Kroger Co. is seeking a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to create an outstanding customer experience and maintain a safe, clean environment.

You will assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals and enforce quality standards while embodying our Customer 1st philosophy and core values. Responsibilities include preparing bakery items to customer specifications, offering samples, informing customers of specials, and ensuring correct portions and freshness.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills required.
• Clear communication skills frequently used in service.
• Basic math knowledge for handling transactions and measurements.
• Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Bakery/Deli Clerk should offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain temperatures in cases and coolers and keep logs.
