Job description

Description

At Table & Banter Hospitality, we believe some of life's best moments begin with freshly baked bread. From the perfect crust on a rustic baguette to the comforting aroma of bread straight from the oven, we know that exceptional hospitality is often found in the simplest details.

We're looking for a talented Artisan Baker to bring their passion, creativity, and craftsmanship to our culinary team at The Park in Berkeley Heights. You'll be part of the magic behind the scenes, transforming quality ingredients into beautiful, handcrafted breads that reach the tables of our cafés, restaurants, and hospitality experiences throughout The Park.

If you know that great bread takes patience, precision, and just the right amount of flour-dusted enthusiasm, we'd love to meet you. After all, we're not just making bread. We're making something worth breaking bread over.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Bring the art of breadmaking to life by preparing, mixing, fermenting, shaping, proofing, and baking a variety of handcrafted breads and doughs.
  • Create beautifully crafted artisan breads, including boules, bâtards, baguettes, ciabatta, round and oblong rolls, focaccia, and pizza doughs, with consistency and attention to detail.
  • Follow established recipes and production standards while bringing care, precision, and craftsmanship to every batch.
  • Develop proficiency in mixing a variety of doughs, including sourdough, enriched, straight, high-hydration, and pizza doughs, following established recipes and supervisory direction.
  • Monitor dough development and fermentation, recognizing the appropriate timing and techniques for folding, dividing, scaling, shaping, proofing, and preparing dough for baking.
  • Safely operate commercial bakery equipment, including mixers and deck ovens, while developing proficiency in scoring breads and manually loading and unloading oven decks without automated loaders.
  • Coordinate multiple oven decks, baking cycles, and production priorities to ensure finished breads consistently meet established quality standards for distribution and sale.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dough mixing, proofing and shaping, and baking and deck oven operations within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Maintain exceptional standards for product appearance, texture, flavor, freshness, and overall quality.
  • Support ingredient preparation, inventory organization, proper storage, and thoughtful resource use to minimize waste.
  • Follow established food safety, sanitation, allergen-handling, and workplace safety procedures while maintaining a clean and organized baking environment.
  • Collaborate with chefs, bakers, and culinary partners to support the evolving needs of our cafés, restaurants, catering operations, and special events.
  • Take pride in knowing that your craftsmanship contributes to memorable culinary experiences throughout The Park.
Requirements
What You'll Bring
  • At least one year of professional experience in a bakery, bread production, or related culinary environment.
  • Demonstrated experience shaping a variety of breads, including round and oblong rolls, artisan loaves (boules, bâtards, baguettes, and ciabatta), and flatbreads such as focaccia and pizza.
  • Formal culinary education or specialized baking training is preferred but not required. Relevant professional experience is equally valued.
  • Ability to confidently follow established recipes, production specifications, and quality standards while maintaining consistency across daily operations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple production priorities in a fast-paced culinary environment.
  • A genuine appreciation for artisan baking, quality ingredients, and the craftsmanship behind exceptional products.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach, with the professionalism to work effectively alongside chefs, bakers, and other culinary professionals.
  • Dependability, attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper ingredient storage, and safe food-handling practices.
  • Availability to work a consistent early-morning schedule, with flexibility to support holidays, catering, special events, temporary coverage, and evolving operational needs.
Supporting Your Success
  • Medical coverage with employer contribution
  • Generous employer-funded retirement plan
  • Paid time off
  • Employee dining and hospitality perks across The Park
