Responsibilities

  • Arrange arriving luggage on the carousel to improve access and space.
  • Follow airline guidelines and TSA/Port of Seattle requirements for baggage handling.
  • Assist airline employees to transfer baggage safely and efficiently.
  • Move oversized luggage through screening as required by CBP/TSA/Port guidelines.
  • Remove bags from carts and place on belts after reading tags for correct drop location.
  • Communicate clearly with guests and stakeholders, in person or via devices.
  • Select and use PPE as directed by policy and task risks.
  • Exercise sound judgment to protect property and avoid disrupting airport operations.
  • Coordinate with health, security, and emergency procedures when needed.

Job description

Incorporated in 2004, our company seeks to efficiently elevate the experience of valued patrons and guests served by our contractees exclusively within the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries.

About the role

Baggage services agents are responsible for the orderly arrangement and handling of baggage arriving from international flights into Customs on baggage carousels and for the collection, distribution, and storage of unattended baggage at the international carousel at the main terminal.

Agents will manage passenger flow and management of baggage on to the appropriate belt for Seattle exits or connections. Agents are responsible for the condition, upkeep, and maintenance calls for equipment provided or utilized for the purpose of baggage arrivals and distribution. Agents will also accept and deliver over and odd-sized luggage items for screening by the Transportation Security Agency (TSA).

Shift: A afternoon/Evening from 2:00 PM to 10:00pm.

Hourly Pay: $20.74

What you'll do
  • Arrange arriving luggage in an orderly manner on the carousel to improve passenger access to luggage and increase the space available on the carousel for incoming bags.
  • Follow approved guidelines for baggage hygiene and handling based on airline requests approved by the Port of Seattle.
  • Aid airline employees, when reasonable accommodation is permitted, to improve passenger experience and the safe and lawful transferal of baggage.
  • Agents will aid in the process of moving over-sized and odd-sized baggage through the screening process under the guidance and policies set forth by CBP, TSA, and the Port of Seattle in a timely manner.
  • Remove medium and large bags from baggage carts and place them on appropriate belts for the passenger, reading tags prior to ensure preparation or proper drop location.
  • Communicating whether in person or via electronic devices in a clear manner, concisely, and in a positive and culturally relevant manner with guests and stakeholders at the airport.
  • Appropriate selection of and use of personal protection equipment (PPE) based on task, area, and risks as outlined by company or contractor policy and/or guidelines.
  • Exercising sound judgment to prevent damage to the property of others or interference with airport operations.
  • Ensure customer safety and coordination with clear understanding of roles in health and medical emergency, security breach, and evacuation situations.
Qualifications
  • Service-based orientation.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated, able to work long hours independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to maintain hygiene standards and wear and maintain an issued uniform, uniform components or company, contractor or stakeholder equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as the airport is a 24/7/365 operation.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with both individuals and large groups/crowds.
  • Strong and steady voice, approachable posture and body language, positive demeanor, high energy levels.
  • Ability to identify the service needs of guests proactively.
  • Experience working in an airport, event management, warehouse and packaging, moving and concierge services, or any setting where fast-paced, “touch and go” yet professional customer interactions are required and/or commonplace.
