Job summary

Dynamic Service Solutions is seeking a Background Check Specialist in Houston to coordinate and document background check requests and results while ensuring compliance with ORR, federal and state regulations. You will guide staff through the process, perform audits, and maintain records to support safe program operations.

The role requires strong computer, communication, and project management skills, with experience in human services or federal contracts being a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Bachelor's Degree in HR, Criminal Justice, Psychology/Sociology or related field preferred.
• 3 years of experience in a similar position.
• Prev ious experience working with Federal government contracts preferred.
• Prev ious experience working in human services fields or similar occupational areas is a plus.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
• Must have good communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Guide staff through completing all required components of the background check process, including FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse/Neglect Registry checks, Annual Affidavit, Background re-check and other required screenings.
• Submit completed background check packets and supporting documents to ORR; track responses and maintain official eligibility and suitability letters for staff.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure all background check–related documentation, including annual affidavits and verification forms, are complete, accurate, and up to date in staff files.
• Stay current with ORR, federal, and state requirements related to background checks and ensure all processes follow established standards, timelines, and confidentiality protocols.
• Provide clear guidance and updates to staff, supervisors, managers and HR regarding background check requirements, timelines, and results, ensuring staff understand each step of the process. and resolve any discrepancies or disputes.
• Monitor background check results, identify missing or inconsistent documentation, and elevate issues to management or compliance teams to ensure timely resolution and uninterrupted program operations.
