Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Software Engineer II in Test Platform Engineering to help build and evolve core testing infrastructure that empowers hundreds of engineers to develop, validate, and deliver high-quality software efficiently. The role focuses on scalable, reliable test automation solutions, CI pipelines, and a robust test runner that integrates with our development workflow.

Responsibilities include owning and improving test automation frameworks, designing solutions to optimize execution

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in test automation.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Python.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright and Pytest.
• Experience building and optimizing CI pipelines.
• Experience with Docker and AWS.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• East Coast location preferred to support collaboration with European colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Own, improve, and maintain integration and end‑to‑end test automation frameworks and their associated CI pipelines.
• Design and implement technical solutions to optimize test execution time and enhance stability.
• Write technical specifications, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and collaborate on design reviews across the organization.
• Support engineering teams by triaging requests and sharing best practices for quality assurance and test automation.
• Contribute to the evolution of the company’s overall test strategy.
• Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in phases, and collaborate with others to meet deadlines.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to support production test environments.
