Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a technically fluent Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third-party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. This role sits at the crossroads of engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence, driving scalable, interoperable systems powering internal capabilities and external partner integrations.

Qualifications

7+ years in product management for tech or SaaS
4+ years on backend/API/platform products
Experience delivering SaaS platform features at scale in B2B/enterprise
Strong RESTful API design and modern integration patterns
Hands-on with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft)
Ability to build ROI models and investment cases for platform initiatives
Experience leading API/platform product strategy, not just execution
Comfort reading technical docs and OpenAPI/Swagger specs

Responsibilities

Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities
Define API design standards, versioning, and developer experience (DX)
Drive scalable, event-driven microservices architecture with engineering
Govern API frameworks including authentication, rate limiting, and SLAs
Lead third-party integrations and marketplace ecosystem development
Collaborate with architects on interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR)
Manage integration roadmap from vendor evaluation to production go-live
