Job summary

Citi is seeking a Backend Java Developer, Officer in Irving, TX. You will design, build, and deploy microservices, and implement RESTful and gRPC APIs with secure auth and rate-limiting. The role emphasizes observability, performance, and reliability across distributed systems.

You will collaborate with DevOps/SRE to maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and adherence to security and data governance standards while participating in Agile ceremonies and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy microservices using modern frameworks and cloud-native principles.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions, contributing to microservice decomposition and API design.
• Implement RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services with proper authentication, authorization, and rate-limiting.
• Ensure services are observable — implement logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Collaborate with DevOps/SRE teams to build CI/CD pipelines and support containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high availability and performance of services.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data governance standards.
