Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a Digital Software Engineer Intmd Analyst to design, develop, test, and deploy microservices in a cloud-native environment. You will write clean code, contribute to API design, and help ensure observability through logging and tracing.

You will collaborate with DevOps/SRE teams to build CI/CD pipelines and mentor junior developers while delivering secure, scalable services for high-traffic applications.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years in an apps development role with microservices expertise using Java/Python.
• Strong backend language proficiency: Java (Spring Boot) or Python.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Tekton, GitLab CI) and Git-based version control.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; data driven and results-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy microservices using modern frameworks and cloud-native principles.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions, contributing to microservice decomposition and API design.
• Implement RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services with proper authentication, authorization, and rate-limiting.
• Ensure services are observable — implement logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Collaborate with DevOps/SRE teams to build CI/CD pipelines and support containerized deployments.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers on best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high availability and performance of services.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives).
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data governance standards.
