Job summary

Scribe is seeking a Backend Software Engineer on Data Ingestion to help bring captured activity into the platform at scale. You will work on backend systems, throughput, reliability, and cost, collaborating with PMs and designers to ship new and existing products.

Based in San Francisco with a hybrid travel, you’ll own high-throughput services, be involved in on-call rotations, and contribute to a culture of strong engineering practices, with equity offered to all full-time staff.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend development experience.
• Product-minded; cares about user problems as much as code.
• Comfortable with unclear problems and rapid change.
• Able to debug production problems from metrics and logs.
• Nice to have: AI/LLM product experience or startup experience.

Responsibilities

• Build projects from design to launch on established products and new ones.
• Collaborate with PMs, designers and engineers to execute the build.
• Contribute to technical discussions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term architecture.
• Uphold strong engineering practices: code review, test coverage and observability.
• Build and operate high-throughput backend services and the queues and storage behind them.
• Improve the performance and reliability of services, database queries, endpoints and caching across critical workflows.
• Take part in the on-call rotation for the systems you build
