Job summary

Affirm is building a remote-first engineering team focused on batch development and reliability. As a Batch Developer Experience engineer, you will work with product and infrastructure partners to create tools that streamline workflows and strengthen testing for critical batch workloads.

The role requires 1.5+ years as a software engineer, backend experience with Python or Kotlin, and familiarity with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems with Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems; AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Ability to translate simple problems into multi-component solutions and write well-tested code.
• Comfort with navigating large code bases and performing code reviews.
• Ownership mindset; proactive growth and seeking feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication for collaboration with a global team.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks, deliver in phases, and collaborate for timely delivery.
• Support product lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics on constraints and decisions.
• Support operations by creating/monitoring metrics, escalations, and on-call work.
• Contribute to team community through growth activities and interview participation.
