Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first tech company, building scalable backend systems for modern financing solutions. As a Batch Developer Experience engineer, you’ll break down projects, collaborate across product and analytics, and help keep critical batch workloads running reliably.

You’ll work with Python or Kotlin, engage in on-call responsibilities, and contribute to growth through ongoing learning and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems using Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Able to translate simple problems into multi‑component solutions with well‑tested, extensible code.
• Comfortable navigating large code bases and giving feedback via code reviews.
• Demonstrates growth mindset, seeks feedback from team and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication for a global engineering team.
• Bachelor-equivalent or higher in a related field.

Responsibilities
