Affirm is seeking a Batch Developer Experience engineer to design, build, and operate backend batch systems in a distributed, remote-first environment. You will partner with product and infrastructure engineers to streamline workflows, testing, and reliability for critical batch workloads.

The role requires 1.5+ years of software engineering, with Python or Kotlin and knowledge of AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes.
• Strong code writing, testing and extensible design.
• Comfort with large codebases and code reviews.
• Proactive about growth and feedback, with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects into tasks, deliver in phases and ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics across the lifecycle.
• Support operations and keep systems reliable via metrics and on-call work.
• Contribute to team learning and interview process participation.
