Job summary

Gallatin AI, Inc. is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the core backend services powering our AI-driven logistics platform. You’ll own APIs, data pipelines, and system architecture, collaborating with AI/ML, frontend, and product teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

Applicants should be proficient in Python, Node.js, Typescript or Java, with experience in REST/GraphQL, databases, cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, and IaC, and a growth mindset.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in backend languages: Python, Node.js, Typescript or Java.
• REST/GraphQL API design and implementation.
• Relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis.
• Cloud environments: AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Docker and Kubernetes for containerized apps.
• Infrastructure as code: Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Software testing: unit, integration, end-to-end.
• Write clean, well-documented code.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-team collaboration.
• Growth mindset and commitment to learning and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Create scalable, resilient backend services and APIs for our logistics solutions.
• Own system architecture, balancing performance, scalability, and security.
• Partner with frontend, AI/ML, and product teams to integrate services smoothly.
• Drive high availability and reliability through monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Build and maintain testing strategies to keep the platform stable.
• Develop pipelines ingesting data from real-time, batch, structured, and unstructured sources.
• Ensure data consistency, reliability, and accessible schemas.
• Contribute to code reviews, standards, and documentation.
• Mentor new teammates as the team grows.
