Job summary

Wyman-Gordon, Worcester, MA, seeks an Area Manager - Back End Operations to lead CNC Machining, Heat Treat, NDT, Inspection, and Shipping/Receiving. You will drive safety, productivity, throughput, and cost control to meet the ship plan and customer commitments.

The role requires 5+ years in heavy manufacturing, strong lean/TOC knowledge, and proven ability to manage to a P&L while fostering teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• B.S. or advanced degree in engineering or business preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years in heavy manufacturing with a track record of bottom line improvements.
• Strong strategic planning and analytical problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teambuilding abilities.
• Experience with P&L and performance measurements.
• Experience managing to the Theory of Constraints.
• Self-motivated and achievement oriented.

Responsibilities

• Directs all back-end manufacturing functions.
• Drive Safety initiatives to prevent accidents and lower DART Rate.
• Generate and execute a plan to reduce overall costs.
• Develop strategies to achieve operational objectives for daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly targets.
• Ensure consistent quality standards are satisfied and procedures followed throughout manufacturing.
• Identify opportunities to optimize processing and manufacturing methodologies.
• Respond to constraints and implement corrective actions.
• Lead implementation of the PCC Toolbox.
• Foster positive employee relations and open communication.
