Job summary

Reworld Waste is seeking a Back Plant Operator in Massachusetts to safely operate the back ash area and related equipment. The role combines monitoring, preventive maintenance, and daily operational support to ensure reliable facility performance.

You will inspect conveyors and equipment, perform routine maintenance, and participate in team meetings while upholding safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience operating heavy industrial equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot conveyors, belts, rollers, and related systems.
• MA 1C/2C Hoisting License eligibility is required or to be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily walkdowns of the back ash area, inspecting conveyors, belts, rollers, separators and related equipment for defects or abnormal conditions.
• Monitor equipment performance, including speeds, alignment, ash buildup and overall system cleanliness.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and assist with corrective maintenance tasks throughout the day.
• Participate in daily morning kickoff meetings with the maintenance team to review the day’s work plan.
• Support scheduled system shutdowns to complete repairs safely and efficiently.
• Operate industrial equipment, including front-end loaders.
• Use weekly activity books and checklists to document equipment status.
• Safely perform lock-out/tag-out procedures during maintenance activities.
• Report equipment issues and submit repair requests via established work orders.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant back ash area.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
