Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a dedicated staff member to support youth who may have experiences with foster care, homelessness, and related systems. You will provide guidance across education, employment, housing, health, and life skills, while creating a welcoming environment at the YMCA.

Operating through the South King County Youth Shelter, the role focuses on stabilization, transition to safe housing, and family reunification where possible, serving thousands of youth and families

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma/GED/HSEC.
• Minimum one year of experience working with teens or young adults in foster care, group care, housing, education, juvenile justice, anti-poverty, vocational support, mental health, chemical dependency and/or homelessness fields.
• Must be 21 years of age (unless between 18 and 21 and enrolled in an internship, supervised by staff).
• Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to transport self and client(s) with proof of vehicle insurance.
• Current state approved First Aid and CPR certification and HIV training (within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Provides general support to young adults in education, employment/career development, housing, technology, or other designated field and supports them in achieving their goals.
• Builds strong relationships with Y program participants to effectively provide quality services.
• Develops individualized, strengths-based, youth-driven service plans.
• Ensures contract/grant terms and conditions are met and services rendered appropriately.
• Maintains participant contact notes, service plans, progress updates, and outcomes in designated databases.
• Provide direct service and referrals focused on under-served populations in South King County.
• Collaborates with YMCA staff and community partners to plan and facilitate activities.
• Maintains relationships with funding liaisons and other service providers related to specialized services.
• Supports participant success in housing, education and employment, health and well-being, and life skills.
