Job summary

The Seattle YMCA, through the Social Impact Center Y, seeks a Direct Care Staff member to provide 24‑hour supervision for youth ages 16‑18 in an Adolescent Transitional Living Program. This on‑site role supports up to five youths with daily supervision, developmentally appropriate activities, and trauma‑informed guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of experience with teens or young adults in related fields.
• Must be 21 years of age (with internship exceptions under supervision).
• Ability to teach independence skills and plan supportive activities.
• Strong youth engagement and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office.
• Driver and vehicle insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide general support to young adults in education, housing, and life skills.
• Build strong relationships with program participants.
• Develop individualized, strengths-based service plans.
• Understand contract/grant terms to meet outcomes.
• Maintain accurate participant notes and progress updates.
• Offer direct services and referrals focusing on under-served South King County youth.
• Collaborate with staff and partners to plan activities.
• Support housing stability, education, employment, health, and life skills.
• Oversee daily routines, meals, chores, and safety.
• Attend to transportation needs and community outings.
