Job summary

Sompo invites applicants for the AVP, Surety Claims position in our North America Insurance Surety Claims team. This senior role provides technical claim management for our largest and most complex Surety claims across multiple bond types.

Based in offices including Mt. Juliet, TN, New York, NY, Morristown, NJ, Houston, TX, Scottsdale, AZ, Seattle, WA or Chicago, IL, the role leads strategy, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration with underwriting, finance, and operations to deliver

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Surety claims experience with leadership and technical responsibility.
• Proven expertise handling complex, high-exposure Surety claims (> $10M).
• Strong legal and contract review capabilities, incl. settlements and litigation documents.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage complex U.S. Surety claims, including coverage and damages.
• Develop strategies and lead resolution for high-exposure matters.
• Partner with underwriting, leadership and cross-functional teams to mitigate risk and deliver solutions.
• Provide timely large loss, reserve, and collateral reporting.
