Job summary

Sompo seeks an AVP, Surety Claims to lead complex U.S. Surety claims across performance bonds, including Coal, Oil & Gas, contracts and licenses. The role emphasizes technical claim management and strategic resolution in collaboration with underwriting and senior leadership.

The position may be based in Mt. Juliet, TN or other major offices; requires 10+ years in surety claims with leadership, JD preferred and CPCU; travel may be required. Salary range $180,000–$195,000.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Surety claims experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong legal and contract review capabilities, including settlements and litigation docs.
• Proven ability to lead complex, high-exposure claims and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage complex U.S. Surety claims, including coverage and damages.
• Develop strategies and lead resolution efforts for high-exposure matters.
• Partner with underwriting, leadership, and cross-functional teams to mitigate risk.
• Provide large loss, reserve, and trend reporting.
• Deliver technical guidance and mentorship to claims staff.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and represent the organization at industry events.
