Job summary

Core Specialty in Cincinnati, OH seeks an AVP Surety Claims to establish the Surety Claims department and oversee all claims handling. The role reports to the Surety Division President and requires 10+ years of experience in surety claims and litigation.

Travel is required, and the candidate will coach staff, manage reserves, and coordinate with reinsurers and outside counsel while supporting underwriting and mediations when needed.

Qualifications

• College degree required.
• J.D. preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in legal or surety claims handling and litigation.
• Ability to travel and work under tight deadlines.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee the Surety Claims department.
• Manage reserves, subrogation, and recovery goals.
• Coach and develop direct reports; handle performance issues with HR alignment.
• Engage with reinsurers, outside counsel, and vendors as needed.
• Support underwriting and participate in mediations, settlements, and trials.
