Job summary

Synchrony is seeking an AVP, Data Loss Prevention Engineer to lead an enterprise DLP program within Information Security. You will craft and modify DLP policies and rules to detect, protect, and reduce data exfiltration while aligning with business stakeholders and security teams.

You will guide standards, metrics, and strategy, ensuring adherence to PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and other regulations, and you will be a trusted advisor for IT and business partners across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years in information security or related field, or in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma/GED and minimum 7 years equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in data loss prevention role.
• Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required.

Responsibilities

• Design and build effective DLP policies and rules to protect data.
• Support the Data Protection product owner defining the intent, roadmap, and strategy for the DLP program.
• Develop and manage Data Loss Prevention metrics.
• Stay current with evolving threats and enhance capabilities to prevent data exfiltration.
• Serve as SME to assist with DLP problems related to Data Protection security service.
• Partner with stakeholders to align sensitive data protection for DLP capabilities.
• Act as a central contact for IT and business stakeholders on DLP.
• Contribute to standards, best practices, and guidelines for policies and procedures.
• Ensure cybersecurity capabilities meet industry best practices and regulatory requirements (PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
