Job summary

Palomar Holdings, Inc. seeks an AVP, Actuarial with a strong pricing background to drive in‑house pricing analyses and partner with Underwriting, Product, and executive leadership.

This hands‑on role requires cross‑segment collaboration and a flexible, data‑driven approach to pricing decisions. Ideal candidates will bring 8+ years in actuarial pricing, FCAS/ACAS, and proficiency with AI tools, R, Python and SQL.

Qualifications

• 8+ years actuarial experience, pricing focus with some reserving and reinsurance
• FCAS or high-functioning ACAS
• Proficiency in AI‑assisted building with R, Python, SQL
• Ability to move from 0 → 1 in ambiguous environments
• Strong understanding of actuarial workflows and pricing analysis

Responsibilities

• Apply and shape Palomar’s pricing toolkit for day-to-day analyses.
• Serve as hands-on pricing actuary for UW, Product, and leadership.
• Lead rate reviews and indications across segments.
• Build a framework to monitor pricing trends and competition.
• Evaluate new programs, renewals, and rate adequacy in real time.
• Build relationships with MGAs to support pricing.
• Adapt across segments as business priorities shift.
