Palomar is hiring an AVP, Actuarial with a strong pricing background to drive real-time pricing decisions across underwriting, product and leadership. This hands-on role requires collaboration across segments and rapid trust-building with cross-functional partners.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in actuarial pricing, FCAS/ACAS, and fluency with R, Python, SQL to enhance Palomar's in-house toolkit. Remote-ready and ready to tackle dynamic market opportunities and complex programs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of actuarial experience with pricing focus.
• FCAS or ACAS credential is required or clearly in progress.
• Proficiency in AI-supported tooling and data science languages (R, Python, SQL).
• Ability to move across segments and translate analysis to business decisions.
• Strong communication to connect technical results with stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring or leading technical staff is a plus.
• Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

• Apply and shape Palomar’s in-house pricing toolkit for day-to-day analyses and supplier collaboration.
• Act as hands-on pricing actuary for underwriting, product, and leadership to link insights to strategy.
• Lead rate reviews and indications across segments according to risk profiles.
• Build a framework to monitor competitive and market pricing trends.
• Evaluate programs, renewals, and rate adequacy with real-time actuarial input.
• Foster relationships with MGAs and support pricing and program structure.
• Flex across segments as priorities shift to broaden exposure across the book.
