Job summary

Palomar is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst in La Jolla, CA to join its growing actuarial team. You will bridge actuarial and data functions, helping design a Data Warehouse to feed pricing, reserving, and regulatory reporting.

With 5–8 years in a P&C actuarial role, you will mentor juniors, collaborate with Data Engineering, and influence underwriting and product decisions. SQL, Python, and data tools are essential; ACAS/FCAS or exams are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of actuarial experience in a P&C environment.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, VBA, and R; strong data tooling skills.
• 3 actuarial exams passed; ACAS or FCAS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate regulatory data calls and reporting requirements into data requests for Data Engineering and Program Managers.
• Coordinate with Program Managers to identify data enhancements for compliance and analytics.
• Support Data Engineering by answering questions about Data Warehouse architecture and data sources.
• Ensure consistency in reporting across actuarial reserving, pricing, statistical reporting, data calls, and regulatory filings.
• Prepare and maintain reports for regulators and internal stakeholders once Data Warehouse is built.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the actuarial student program.
• Support portfolio monitoring, profitability, and trend analysis to inform business decisions.
