Job summary

The University of North Texas in Denton seeks an experienced Assistant VP for Academic Information Technology to lead the university's academic technology strategy and operations. This role reports to the CIO and oversees services that advance teaching, learning, research, and academic administration across UNT.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field.
• 10 years of progressive leadership in information/academic technology in higher education.
• 5+ years of senior management leading multiple technology teams.
• Experience developing enterprise technology strategies for teaching, learning, and academic operations.
• Experience managing large technology budgets and strategic planning.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with academic and administrative stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a university-wide academic technology strategy aligned with institutional priorities.
• Provide executive leadership for academic technology operations, including instructional technology and LMS infrastructure.
• Direct the delivery of technology support to faculty, students, and academic units with service standards.
• Partner with the Provost, deans, department chairs, faculty governance, libraries, online education, and student success organizations to identify needs and develop solutions.
• Lead planning, implementation, and lifecycle management for enterprise academic technology platforms and instructional technologies.
• Oversee classroom technology planning, installation, modernization, and support for instructional spaces across the university.
• Champion the adoption of emerging technologies that improve teaching and learning outcomes.
• Ensure academic technology services comply with accessibility standards, cybersecurity requirements, privacy regulations, and licensing.
