Job summary

Butler Aerospace & Defense is seeking an avionics systems engineer to join our Cedar Rapids team. You will collaborate with systems, software, integration, and test engineers to develop avionics solutions and refine system requirements, performing lab-based testing and verification throughout formal test phases.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, design reviews, and issue resolution in lab environments, with on-site collaboration and schedule flexibility during test cycles.

Qualifications

• Experience with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Cameo or similar engineering tools.
• Exposure to requirements development, verification, testing, or MBSE concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) at the system level.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional team to develop avionics system solutions.
• Support development, analysis, and refinement of system requirements and interfaces.
• Complete Design and Requirement Developments activities and testing in a lab environment.
• On-site execution of requirements-based testing, robustness, and Ad-Hoc testing in a lab; schedule flexibility during formal test phases.
• Support requirements development, test script execution, and test scenario robustness testing in lab environments.
• Troubleshoot and report issues from development cycles; provide status to OEMs as needed.
• Test script development and execution; contribute to verification planning and test development.
• Participate in technical reviews of requirements, design artifacts, and test procedures.
