Job summary

Varda Space Industries seeks a Systems Engineer II, Avionics to oversee avionics design, integration, and testing for Winnebago Spaceship. You will ensure readiness for launch and reentry, collaborating with multiple engineering teams to balance requirements and deliver mission-ready avionics.

The role focuses on system integration, HITL testbeds, and developing test infrastructure, with opportunities to mentor engineers and shape best practices in avionics engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project scopes and requirements, guiding designs from concept to prototype and full-scale production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults, develop mitigation plans, and support FDIR or workarounds when needed.
• Conduct verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware for launch readiness.
• Participate in mission operations as an Avionics specialist or system operator to assess system health.
