Job summary

Varda Space Industries seeks a Systems Engineer II, Avionics, to oversee the design, integration, and testing of avionics systems for the Winnebago Spaceship. You will ensure readiness for launch and reentry through collaboration with multiple engineering teams and rigorous verification.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field, 3+ years in system design and validation, and Python proficiency, with hands-on experience in power, DAQ, RTD, and 4-20mA testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project scopes and initial requirements, guiding designs from concept to prototype and full-scale production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults and risks, develop mitigation plans, and support FDIR where needed.
• Conduct verification plans for avionics on flight and HITL hardware, ensuring readiness for launch and compliance with objectives.
• Participate in mission operations as an Avionics specialist or system operator for health assessment and corrective actions.
• Oversee integration of Winnebago avionics systems and serve as primary contact for investigations.
• Design and operate HITL testbeds to simulate spacecraft on ground and verify readiness.
• Develop avionics ground infrastructure and support test racks, driving automation and best practices.
• Mentor and train engineers, fostering learning and continuous improvement.
