Varda is hiring an Systems Engineer II, Avionics, on-site in El Segundo, CA. You will oversee design, integration, and testing of avionics systems for Winnebago Spaceship, partnering with multiple teams to ensure mission-ready performance for launch and reentry.

You will shape electrical architecture, evaluate risks, and drive HITL testbeds while mentoring engineers and advancing testing automation within a fast-growing space startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years in system design, test planning and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming is required.
• Experience with avionics, power systems, and test equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes and requirements from concept to production.
• Develop electrical architecture and system diagrams for power, telemetry, and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults, create mitigation plans, and support FDIR activities when needed.
• Create verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware for launch readiness.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices and test automation.
