Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Systems Engineer II, Avionics to lead avionics design, integration, and testing for the Winnebago Spaceship. The role ensures readiness for launch and flight operations, leveraging knowledge of avionics systems, manufacturing, and mission protocols.

You will collaborate with multiple engineering teams, develop electrical architectures, and drive verification plans from concept through production, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and optimize test

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required.
• 3+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project scopes from concept to production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, channel count, size and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults and risks; develop mitigation plans and support FD/IR or workarounds when hardware solutions are unfeasible.
• Conduct verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware for launch readiness.
• Participate in mission operations as an Avionics specialist or system operator to monitor health and suggest corrective actions.
• Oversee integration of Winnebago avionics systems as the primary contact for integrated systems investigations.
• Design, build, and operate HITL testbeds to simulate spacecraft on the ground.
• Develop avionics ground infrastructure and test racks for flight vehicles; contribute to engineering best practices.
• Mentor and train new engineers to foster a culture of learning.
