Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Director of Avionics to lead avionics development and production across facilities. You will drive strategic vision, manage process improvements, and expand manufacturing capacity for electro/mechanical systems, power distribution, safety systems, and batteries.

The role requires 10+ years in manufacturing leadership within aerospace or related fields, strong project management, and a track record of delivering complex production upgrades.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or manufacturing; Masters or MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing (launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, etc).
  • Strong understanding of fabrication and integration processes, systems engineering, test, quality and configuration management.
  • 7+ years managing large budgets or P&L at department/program level.
  • 7+ years project management, schedule management, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in process definition, development, deployment, and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for avionics at Blue Origin.
  • Align avionics initiatives with company goals and customer needs.
  • Oversee new avionics manufacturing processes and technologies; ensure quality.
  • Increase production capabilities and efficiency of avionics manufacturing.
  • Implement cycle time reduction strategies to improve delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with program teams to qualify manufacturing capabilities.
  • Engage stakeholders; communicate progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing avionics team; mentor managers.
  • Plan and deliver new manufacturing capacity and capabilities.
