Job summary

Qualifications

• AVID tutors should be excellent role models of motivated, organized, and successful college students who believe AVID students can succeed.
• Tutors must work in a supportive manner with secondary students and be advocates for students while reporting to the AVID teacher.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person tutorial sessions that emphasize collaborative learning and student-led discussion of notes and texts.
• Determine concepts to focus on from tutorial worksheets, notes, and discussions.
• Provide constructive feedback on student work, online or in-person.
• Support AVID scholars through care and connection and maintain a positive classroom tone.
• Assist the AVID coordinator with tasks such as communicating with teachers, scheduling, field trips, and parent contact.
