Job summary

American International Group (AIG) is seeking a Summer Intern in the Underwriting - Aviation department to learn and contribute in a fast-moving global insurance business. You will work alongside experienced underwriters and risk specialists on aviation risk evaluation during a 9-week program, with in-person office presence in Los Angeles.

This internship offers hands-on experience, instructor-led masterclasses, mentoring, and potential progression to the Analyst program in 2028.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028 (unofficial transcript required upon application).
• Program runs June 7 through August 6, 2027; in-person four days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

• Support the evaluation and underwriting of aviation risks across aircraft operators, airports, manufacturers, and airlines.
• Review underwriting submissions, exposure history, loss history, and other data to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
• Partner with underwriters, claims professionals, attorneys, and risk specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
• Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging aviation risks to support informed underwriting decisions.
• Develop technical knowledge of aviation insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
