Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Houston, TX, is seeking a Tool Room Clerk to maintain the school lab/tool area, ensuring safety and smooth operation for students and staff.

You will issue, inspect, and calibrate tools, track inventory, and report lost items, working under the Director of Education. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and at least three years in a tool-focused environment, with basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• At least three years in a position requiring use of hand tools and equipment similar to that found in an aircraft repair shop.
• Basic computer skills, keyboarding, e-mail, word processor, spreadsheets.
• Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Issue, track, inspect, and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies for students and faculty.
• Oversee safety programs, tool inspections, calibrations, and maintenance per OSHA regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels, report shortages, and keep records of issued tools and returns.
• Assemble and issue tools for class projects and record issuances and returns.
• Generate Lost Tool Reports and submit to the Director of Education.
• Maintain tool inspection and safety program for safe tool use.
• Report broken tools to the Director of Education.
• Calibrate instruments and maintain calibration records as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration on training equipment.
• Ensure adequate tools and equipment for class projects and report shortages.
