Job summary

Lycoming Engines, a Textron Inc. affiliate, offers a 2027 Intern - Systems Engineer (Lycoming) in Williamsport, PA. You’ll work on real projects with experienced professionals to develop mechanical/electrical system requirements and certification plans.

You’ll perform trade studies, testing, and reporting while partnering with cross-functional teams. Travel up to 25% and exposure to aerospace standards are valued, with mentorship and hands-on project work throughout the internship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in electrical or aerospace engineering
• Understanding of propulsion systems preferred
• Cross-functional teamwork and communication skills are desirable
• Willingness to travel up to 25%
• Familiarity with aerospace standards (DO-178, DO-160) is a plus
• Prior internship in aviation or automotive industry is a plus
• Strong presentation and MS Office skills required

Responsibilities

• Develop requirements and specifications for mechanical and electrical systems
• Develop certification plans and artifacts to meet regulatory compliance
• Conduct trade studies with supervision from senior engineers
• Test systems for feasibility and certification testing
• Generate test reports and ensure alignment with leaders and ODA
• Assist with familiarization briefs for internal/external customers
• Support field-related troubleshooting as engineering representative
• Assist production floor with engineering needs as required
