Job summary

Textron Lycoming Engines in Williamsport, PA offers a paid, full-time 10-week summer internship in Engineering. You will work on real projects, develop requirements and test plans for mechanical and electrical systems, and gain hands-on experience in propulsion-focused engineering.

The program provides mentorship, training, and opportunities to contribute to certification efforts, with 25% travel expected and exposure to DO-178/DO-160 standards within cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in electrical or aerospace engineering.
• Understanding propulsion systems, specifically Internal Combustion Engine, preferred.
• Strong organization and ability to manage multiple programs.
• Excellent presentation skills; proficient with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Prior internship in aviation or automotive industry is a plus.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma and aerospace standards such as DO-178/DO-160 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop requirements and specifications for mechanical and electrical systems
• Develop certification plans and supporting artifacts to meet regulatory compliance
• Develop trade study analysis with supervision of senior engineers
• Testing of systems for feasibility and certification
• Generate test reports and align with engineering leaders and Lycoming ODA
• Assist familiarization briefs to internal/external customers and cross-functional teams
• Assist Lycoming product support team with field troubleshooting as engineering representative
• Assist Lycoming production floor with engineering needs
