Job summary

Peraton is seeking an Aviation Structural Engineer, Lead Associate, to provide structural aerospace engineering support at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL, with telework optional. The role emphasizes static and fatigue analysis, FEA (NASTRAN/FEMAP/ABAQUS), and airworthiness criteria development.

The candidate must have 5 years with a BS or 3 years with an MS, DoD clearance, U.S. citizenship, and experience with rotorhead components is a plus. Target salary range listed; benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Experience performing structural analysis of airframe structure, static and fatigue.
• Experience performing Finite Element Analysis using NASTRAN, FEMAP, or ABAQUS.
• Knowledge of structural bench testing for static and fatigue of aircraft components.
• Experience with structural flight testing, such as Flight Load Surveys.
• Experience supporting airframe production programs (MRB/salvage).
• Experience with rotorhead (dynamic) components is a plus.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain interim clearance.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard practice hand calculations of aircraft static stress for validation of airframe and rotor components.
• Apply Finite Element Analysis to determine load distributions in aircraft structure (NASTRAN/FEMAP/ABAQUS).
• Develop structural airworthiness criteria, testing requirements, and test plans.
• Evaluate flight test and lab data to establish S-N curves and fatigue lives.
• Review airworthiness releases, safety of flight messages, and airworthiness reports.
• Provide on-site support for structural flight and bench testing.
