Job summary

Peraton is seeking an Aviation Structural Engineering Lead Associate to provide structural aerospace engineering support for the Army Aviation Engineering Directorate. You will apply static stress analysis, finite element methods, and airworthiness criteria to evaluate designs, repairs, and redesign efforts to ensure airworthiness of US Army aircraft.

The position is based near Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL with telework options and a preference for commutable distance.

Qualifications

• 5 years with BS
• 3 years with MS
• Experience performing structural analysis of airframe structure, static and fatigue.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis using NASTRAN, FEMAP, or ABAQUS
• Experience with structural flight testing e.g. Flight Load Surveys
• Experience supporting airframe production programs (MRB/salvage)
• Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain interim Secret
• U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Apply hand calculations for static stress analysis of airframes and components.
• Apply FEM to determine load distributions in aircraft structure (NASTRAN/FEMAP/ABAQUS).
• Develop airworthiness criteria and test plans and analyze flight strain data.
• Evaluate flight test data and fatigue life of components.
• Review Airworthiness releases and safety of flight reports.
• Provide on-site support for structural flight and bench testing.
• Support tilt rotor aircraft familiarity desirable
