Job summary

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Aeronautics, seeks an Aviation Program Assistant to support statewide aeronautics programs, funding initiatives, and registration services. Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
  • Education and experience may be in aviation, business, accounting, aviation management, public administration, program development or related field.
  • License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.
  • Other Requirements: Applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record must meet minimum standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and processes applications for aviation planning, registration, and NAVAID programs.
  • Oversees a computerized database of aeronautical registration programs and ensures updates are made annually.
  • Computes fees and issues various registration certificates.
  • Formulates, recommends, and presents regulations for the adoption, development, and compliance of registration standards.
  • Assists in conducting research related to compliance and performs on-site registration inspections at airports.
  • Handles financial accounting for the Federal Airport Improvement Program and state assistance programs, including grant and payment processing, database maintenance, and the preparation of necessary reports.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding aeronautical registration and airport programs.
  • Compiles and documents information for closeout of federal/state-funded projects and maintains archives.
  • Supervises employees in the administrative unit, including scheduling, approving leave, and conducting appraisals.
