Job summary

Saab is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers in West Lafayette, IN to build the aft fuselage for the T-7A Red Hawk for the U.S. Air Force.

You will train through our Aerospace Structures training academy and contribute to a state-of-the-art production system. The role emphasizes hands-on assembly, adherence to engineering drawings, and teamwork, with pay starting at $23–$25 per hour plus a $2 shift premium.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage per procedures.
• Follow instructions in a team-based environment to ensure quality.
• Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle Class A surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work meets specifications.
• Assist training of new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
