Job summary

Saab in West Lafayette, IN is hiring 3rd shift Structural Assemblers to build the aft fuselage for the T-7A Red Hawk. You will assemble aircraft structure, train new team members, and contribute to a state-of-the-art production system. On-site training academy offered; start date early December 2026.

Starting hourly rate is $23–$25 with a $2 shift premium. The role requires reading drawings, using hand and power tools, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Install systems and final assembly on the aircraft fuselage per procedures.
• Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions.
• Support daily continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle 'Class A' surfaces including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete per spec.
• Support training and transfer of knowledge to new employees.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment aligned with company values.
• Other tasks as assigned and authorized.
