Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Aviation Civil Engineering Intern in our Tampa, FL office. You will receive mentorship and support from experienced staff to help design and produce engineering plans for airport projects, including runways, taxiways, and related infrastructure.

You will assist with airfield geometric design, pavement design, lighting, and construction administration tasks, and occasionally perform field observations and quantity take-offs as part of your internship experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• 0–2 years internship experience or related exposure.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced staff in designing and producing engineering plans and specs for airport civil projects.
• Contribute to airfield geometric design, pavement design, airport lighting, and construction admin tasks.
• Periodically perform construction field observations and attend weekly meetings.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Aviation Civil Engineering Intern to join our Tampa, FL office.

Your role

• Receive mentorship to assist experienced engineering staff in the design and production of engineering plans and specifications for airport and airport-related civil engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, parking lots, and supporting infrastructure.
• Contribute to various elements of airfield geometric design, pavement design, airport lighting, and construction administration tasks for commercial service and general aviation airports.
• Periodically perform construction field observations at aviation project sites and attend weekly construction meetings.
• Assist with project quantity take-offs.

About You

• EXPERIENCE: 0 – 2 years of internship experience
• EDUCATION: Pursuing your Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited program
• SPECIAL SKILLS: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• SPECIAL SKILLS: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• SPECIAL SKILLS: Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• SPECIAL SKILLS: Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
