Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Tampa, FL, seeks an entry-level Airport Civil Engineer to join our Aviation Florida Team. You will assist in planning and designing airport civil projects, producing drawings, and supporting data collection and feasibility analyses under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Civil Engineering, familiarity with CAD tools, and strong communication skills. EIT preferred. This role offers mentorship and growth within a global engineering network.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering degree required or nearing completion.
  • EIT preferred or in progress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, design, and production of civil drawings for airport and related projects.
  • Perform data collection, routine calculations, and feasibility evaluations under supervision.
  • Research site conditions and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare reports, permit materials, and graphic presentations.
  • Conduct field observations of construction when needed.
  • Convey design intent clearly in drawings and specifications.
  • Uphold engineering ethics and professional standards.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Airport Civil Engineer to join our Aviation Florida Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Tampa, FL.

Your role
  • Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings for airport and airport-related civil engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, roadway, parking lots, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
  • Research project site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations.
  • Prepares material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outline, and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations under the close review of a more experienced professional.
  • Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Contributes to design assignments by knowing how to clearly convey the design intent to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.
About you
  • EXPERIENCE: 0-2 years of experience
  • EDUCATION: BS in Civil Engineering
  • SPECIAL SKILLS:
    • EIT preferred
    • Familiarity with airside and landside aviation projects desired
    • Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills. PC and CAD skills required.
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is desired.
  • PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS: EIT Preferred

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $80,000 - $85,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
