Job summary

Paycom in Portland, OR seeks an AV Design Engineer for the Experience Center. You will provide technical design and verification of AV and structured cabling systems, coordinate with peers, partners and account executives, and prepare shop drawings and BOMs.

You will support operations, sales and service, assist with bids, meet with manufacturers and customers to tailor solutions, and contribute to product and vendor strategy.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree or 5 years equivalent in AV or professional audio-visual systems.
• Ability to read complex construction drawings and specs.
• Strong knowledge of electrical raceway design and basic electrical theory.

# AV Design EngineerExperience Center - PORTLAND, OR 97209## OverviewSalary Range$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 Salary/yearPosition TypeFull Time## Description**Duties & Responsibilities:** * Provide technical design and technical verification of AV and Structured Cabling design-build systems* Collaborate with design peers, external partners and account executives to create a competent system design that meets customers’ requirements while maintaining high-quality design principles* Verification and engineering of awarded bid system designs* Provide directions to drafting technicians to complete shop drawings in compliance with company standards* Provide technical support to the Operations department, Sales department andService department as needed * Assist with bid take-offs and compilation of pricing for bids on an as-needed basis* Meet with manufacturer sales representatives to keep up with current and new product offerings to better meet the needs of our customers* Meet with customers and conduct needs assessments, client visits, product and real estate strategy meetings, interdepartmental technology and IT-related meetings, and other meetings to ensure all solutions are designed and tailored to customers’ specific needs* Work with leadership to understand and continue to develop vision, preferred products, vendor agreements, and maintain an up-to-date education on preferred and high-potential product lines* Act as the primary contact for customers regarding technology questions and sales process* Create Bill of Materials, quoting and other project documentation using internal software tools* Visit job sites to ensure installations meet design specifications* Assist in commissioning, configuration, and support of installed systems## Qualifications**Job Specifications/Qualifications:*** A minimum of a two-year degree from an accredited College or University or 5Years of equivalent industry experience in Professional Sound Reinforcement or Professional Audio-Visual systems * Ability to understand complex construction drawings and specifications* Knowledge and understanding of electrical raceway design* Strong understanding of basic electrical theory* Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to a wide range of software and hardware* Must complete industry training and certifications as required* Must have excellent interpersonal and people skills with an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude and the ability to work with a diverse group of people* Must have excellent customer service skills to work with both external and internal customers* Must be able to read and develop technical drawings and specifications* Excellent written and verbal communications skills* Ability to work through and solve complex problems with minimal supervision* Ability to work a flexible schedule based on workload requirements* Knowledgeable in IP networking and infrastructure* Knowledgeable in Audio and Video over IP protocols* Knowledgeable in Digital Audio and Video Systems* Electrical or General Construction background* Exposure to structural and mechanical design* D-Tools, AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro, Visio, StarDraw, or similar A/V and architectural design tool experience* Experience with Steelcase technology products and Hedberg accounting and quoting system a plus* Experience with designing technology that integrates with furniture and furniture systems* Factory training for Digital Signal Processor programming from manufacturers such as Biamp, QSC, Shure, Poly, Control System Programming or Design training with Crestron, Extron, AMX or other related factory training* BICSI Certification a plus* AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist CTS or CTS-D highly preferred* Live Audio or Video Production Experience* Experience in Audio and Video system tuning, calibration and commissioning* Sound Reinforcement System Design* Broadcast Video or Audio-Visual System Design* Knowledge of commonly used concepts, best practices and procedures within the Information Technology discipline (ITIL)* Actual field experience* Must maintain a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and meet all eligibility requirements* Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers* Some light lifting, reaching and grasping objects is required* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate* Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations* A minimum of business casual dress is required* Basic computer skills using Microsoft O365 (i.e., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, etc.) **Education:**College degree in related field or equivalent job experience **Supervisory Responsibilities:** N/A **Work Environment:**Hybrid - Home andHyphn Experience Center office environment with energetic atmosphere. *Hyphn is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
