Position Overview

NBCP Communications is seeking an experienced AV Systems Designer / Sales Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time position offering a competitive base salary with commission potential.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in AV system design, proposal development, and customer engagement and is comfortable managing responsibilities independently while collaborating with sales, engineering, project management, and installation teams.

Travel is minimal, typically less than 10% annually. The position also offers flexibility to work remotely up to 25% of the time based on workload, project requirements, and business needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop new sales opportunities through direct customer engagement, research, professional networks, industry events, referrals, and digital platforms
• Design professional audio visual, video conferencing, and unified communications systems based on customer and project requirements
• Develop detailed bills of materials and equipment lists for proposals and project estimates
• Conduct and participate in site surveys to identify system requirements, existing conditions, and project considerations
• Prepare technical proposals, scopes of work, bid responses, and project pricing
• Create CAD or Visio system drawings, wiring diagrams, custom wall plate designs, and installation plans
• Review system designs for functionality, signal flow, compatibility, and constructability
• Communicate professionally with customers and serve as a technical point of contact when a Project Manager is not present
• Develop technical documentation, including system operating instructions, user guides, and project documentation
• Support the Sales Department with technical recommendations, system design, and contract pricing
• Coordinate with engineering, project management, programming, installation, and other internal teams as needed
• Perform other related duties based on project and business requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in AV systems design and proposal development
• Strong understanding of AV system signal flow, design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and operation
• Hands‑on knowledge of AV and VTC technologies, including:
• Video conferencing codecs and platforms
• Audio mixers and digital signal processing
• Control systems and AV automation
• Amplifiers, microphones, speakers, and associated cabling
• Projection and display systems
• Video cameras and related AV equipment
• Ability to develop accurate equipment lists, system designs, and technical proposals
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers at all organizational levels
• Ability to work independently and perform effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to successfully complete background checks and other screening requirements necessary for work at secure customer and government facilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with professional AV system installation, commissioning, programming, or operations
• Prior military service or experience supporting government or Department of Defense environments
• Active or previously held Secret or Top Secret security clearance
• Network design or network management experience
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microsoft Visio
• AVIXA certifications, including:
• CTS
• CTS-D
• CTS-I
• Manufacturer certifications or demonstrated experience with platforms such as Crestron, AMX, Extron, Biamp, or similar professional AV technologies
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
• Manual dexterity necessary for computer and equipment operation
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to access customer and project sites as required to conduct site surveys and project-related activities
