Job summary

Rivian is hiring a Vehicle Operator II in Miami, FL to support autonomous system testing and ground operations. You will train operators, lead on-shift activities, and oversee vehicle prep, data handling, and safety procedures on public roads and test tracks.

You will coordinate with the Operations team, perform inspections, and guide drivers through complex test scenarios, ensuring high safety standards and efficient shift handovers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional automotive driving, autonomous vehicle testing, or vehicle fleet operations with coaching experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, coaching, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to focus while monitoring autonomous systems for up to 6–8 hours daily.
• Lift/move up to 50 lbs and stay active across shop floors and testing sites.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for off-site field testing campaigns and overtime as needed.
• Proficiency with laptops, smartphones, and enterprise tools (Google Docs, Sheets, Maps).

Responsibilities

• Operator Training, Coaching & Mentorship: deliver hands-on driving and safety instruction for new operators.
• Ground Support & Fleet Operations: assist with shift handovers, route assignments, and vehicle allocations.
• System Diagnostics & Technical Escalation: identify issues, create tickets, and escalate to engineering teams.
• Safety and test execution: drive prototype vehicles in autonomous, semi-autonomous, and manual modes across various conditions.
• Perform pre/post-trip checks, data offloading, and post-drive reports.
