Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX seeks an Autonomy Engineering Specialist to serve as the technical authority for MineStar Onboard, the software powering autonomy, productivity and safety on Caterpillar mining machines.

In a SAFe environment, you translate site-level designs into the architectures and requirements used by L6 solutions and product teams. You will lead design reviews, define interfaces, and guide verification from site design through release.

Qualifications

5+ years in systems engineering or software-intensive systems.
Architecture design experience for major products.
Knowledge of autonomy, robotics or machine control systems.
Experience with Agile environments.
Knowledge of verification and validation processes.
Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

Act as technical authority for MineStar Onboard architecture, functionality and interfaces.
Decompose site designs into Onboard architectures for L6 solutions.
Define and maintain traceable, testable requirements from site needs to L6 verification.
Lead design reviews, evaluate alternatives and cost/effort estimates.
Define interfaces for geospatial data and secure communications (VPN, MQTT).
Support testing, certification and release readiness of Onboard software.
Explore AI and other tech to enhance Onboard capabilities.
