Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX seeks an Autonomy Engineering Specialist to serve as the technical authority for MineStar Onboard, guiding architecture, interfaces and validation across site designs.

You will collaborate with Site Solutions, Site Systems and L6 teams in a SAFe environment and ensure traceability from requirements to verification. The role emphasizes systems engineering, embedded software knowledge, and experience with autonomy or robotics.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of systems engineering or software development for complex software-intensive systems.
• Ability to decompose requirements, interfaces and validation plans across multi-team environments.
• Experience converting customer and system requirements into practical system designs and leading design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for MineStar Onboard architecture and interfaces.
• Decompose site-level designs into Onboard architectures for L6 solutions.
• Define needs, write testable requirements, and ensure traceability from site needs to verification.
• Lead design reviews, evaluate architecture trade-offs, and estimate effort for designs.
• Define interfaces for MineStar Onboard with machine platforms, site infra, and third-party products.
• Work in SAFe agile environment with L6 TPMs and Product Owners to prioritize requirements.
• Support verification, validation planning and release readiness for Onboard software.
• Explore AI technologies to enhance Onboard capabilities.
• Provide guidance on feasibility, configuration, and deployment to Site Solutions/Systems.
