Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Autonomy Systems Engineer to lead system-level requirements, architecture and integration for autonomy and site technology solutions across machine, site, and platform boundaries.

You will collaborate with software, hardware, and field teams to ensure safe, scalable deployment on mining and construction equipment. This onsite role is based in Mossville, IL with possible work from Irving, TX or Tucson, AZ, and may require travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

• Systems engineering experience leading requirements development across multi-team environments.
• Ability to balance time, cost, quality and risk with engineering judgment.
• Knowledge of SDLC and software product testing methodologies.
• Experience with site autonomy platforms or embedded/onboard development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define, decompose, and manage system-level requirements and interfaces.
• Lead or support system integration and validation activities.
• Ensure alignment between architecture, implementation and verification.
• Collaborate across software, hardware, machine, and site teams.
• Communicate system readiness, risk, and trade-offs to stakeholders.
